Food & Menu’s

Healthy nutritious food essential for growing minds and bodies

Poppins Day Nursery offers a lovely, healthy 4 week menu for the children’s mealtimes. In keeping with our homely environment, we are delighted to fuel our children’s minds and bodies with nutritious, home cooked meals that are freshly prepared and served daily by our professional cook, who is always available to discuss the individual dietary needs of your child. Throughout the year we like to make the most of our seasonal fruit and vegetables, grown and picked by the children, by incorporating these into the children’s snacks and meals.

Our healthy eating policy is a no pressure approach and encourages meal times to be a social, enjoyable experience rich in conversation and time. We believe it is important to educate children to make healthy choices, to learn about portion control and the different types of foods we need to keep our bodies active and healthy. This is reflected in our curriculum and how we teach children to self-serve their own lunches, with careful guidance and sensitive encouragement.

We can work alongside parents to accommodate any dietary requirements and current menus are displayed on our parents notice board or can be emailed upon request. A full day includes, a brunch snack during the morning, a healthy two course meal at lunch time and a light tea in the afternoon. You can see a selection of our delicious rotating menus and some example dishes prepared by our brilliant cook Amanda below.

A five star rating we intend to keep

Poppins has been awarded a 5-star, excellent rating for ‘scores on the doors’ by the local authority Environmental Health Department for many years now, you can view the latest report here.
