Safeguarding landing page

We take our duty to safeguard children at Poppins very seriously, we invest a lot of our time every day to ensure children are kept safe at all times. We educate ourselves as staff all the time as part of our continuous professional development to ensure we are a support network for children and their families. It is important you are aware of who the Designated Safeguarding Leads are for the setting, these are:

We would like to share our safeguarding policy with you, which can be found here.

It is important to point out that everyone has a duty to safeguard children, and anyone can make a referral to Family Front Door if you would like to report a safeguarding concern. This number is 01905 822666.

Please do reach out to your key person, or any member of staff you feel comfortable talking to, should you like some additional advice. We promise to refrain from any judgement, we are simply here to help. This may be support with how to manage challenging behaviour at home, advice about bed wetting, safe sleeping, implementing routines, co-parenting relationships, keeping safe as a family, housing, or financial concerns. Whatever it may be, we are here to help and we have a resource of helpful services we may be able to signpost you to. I have also included information on Early Help and how to access this, which is available to anyone. You can find this information here.

Operation Encompass

I am pleased to inform you that as from Tuesday 14th February Poppins Day Nursery is now part of Operation Encompass, which is a national scheme that operates jointly between Early Years Settings, schools and police forces. Operation Encompass is the reporting to childcare settings, prior to the start of the next day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

As an Early Years setting, we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Sam McCann - Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care. You can view Sam’s certificate here.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our children in our care, and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved. If you have any questions regarding Operation Encompass please do get in touch.

We have also included some further resources and numbers which may be helpful to you
